Common jobs, step by step

Remove a cough or mistake from a recording

Select the unwanted part and press Delete selection. The two sides are joined with a tiny crossfade so there’s no click. For many pauses at once, use remove silence.

Make a quiet recording louder

Press Normalise all to raise the loudest peak to −1 dBFS without distortion. If it is still too quiet, the volume booster can apply loudness normalisation with a limiter.

Prepare a clip for a video

Select the part you want, press Keep only selection, add a short Fade in and Fade out on the first and last second, and export WAV for the video editor.

Speed up a lecture

Set the speed slider to 1.25× or 1.5×. The export uses ffmpeg’s time-stretching filter, so voices stay at their natural pitch. To change pitch too, use the speed and pitch changer.

Questions people ask

Is this a free online audio editor with no sign-up?

Yes. Open a file and edit. There is no account, watermark or export limit, and the file stays in your browser the whole time.

What can I do with it?

Select any part on the waveform, then keep it, delete it, silence it, fade it in or out, make it louder or quieter, or reverse it. Normalise the whole file, change the speed without changing pitch, and export to MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG or Opus. Every edit can be undone.

Can it replace Audacity?

For quick jobs, yes: cutting a recording, fixing levels, adding fades. For multitrack mixing, effects chains and noise reduction, a desktop editor like Audacity (free) is the better tool.

Does editing reduce quality?

Edits happen on uncompressed 32-bit samples in memory, so they are lossless. Quality is only affected once, when you export to a lossy format like MP3. Export WAV or FLAC to avoid even that.

Does my work save if I close the tab?

No. Nothing is stored or uploaded, so closing the tab discards the edit. Export before you leave.
