Video to MP3 converter

Turn phone videos, screen recordings, lectures and clips into MP3s. The video stays on your device, so a 2 GB file converts without a 2 GB upload.

Output format

MP3: sharing, podcasts, car stereos, anything that must just play.

Convert a video to MP3

  1. Choose one or more video files. On a phone, pick from Photos or Files.
  2. MP3 at 192 kbps is preselected. Switch to M4A or WAV if you need them.
  3. Each file converts in turn. Press Download, or Download all.

By video format

MP3 is the right choice when the audio has to play anywhere. If you’re going to edit it in a video or audio editor, extract the original track or convert to WAV instead, so you don’t stack another lossy step.

Questions people ask

How do I convert a video to MP3 without uploading it?

Drop the video above. AudioKit reads its audio track with ffmpeg.wasm inside your browser and encodes an MP3. The video never leaves your device, which also means no waiting for a big upload.

Which video formats work?

MP4, MOV (iPhone), WEBM, MKV, AVI, M4V, 3GP, FLV and WMV. If a file has several audio tracks (for example two languages), the first one is used.

Can I convert a YouTube link?

No. AudioKit only works with files already on your device; it doesn’t download from streaming sites, whose terms generally forbid it. If you made the video, download it from YouTube Studio and convert that file.

What bitrate is best for video to MP3?

Most phone and camera videos carry AAC audio at 128–256 kbps, so 192 kbps MP3 keeps everything you can hear. For lectures and talks, 128 kbps is plenty and half the size.

Is there a faster way that keeps the original quality?

Yes: extract the audio track as it is (usually M4A/AAC) instead of converting to MP3. It takes seconds and is bit-for-bit identical. Use the extract-audio-from-video tool.
