Drop two or more WAV files to merge (other formats work too)

Mixed formats and sample rates are fine. You can also drag a file here or paste it.

To combine WAV files: choose them below, order them, and press Join and export WAV. The output is 16-bit PCM WAV with nothing re-compressed, so the join is lossless apart from any crossfade you add.

Step by step

  1. Choose two or more WAV files, or drop them on the box. They open on this device.
  2. Put them in order with the ↑ ↓ buttons.
  3. Optional: add a crossfade (music) or a short gap (speech).
  4. Press Join and export, then Download (or Share on a phone). The result is one WAV file.

Lossless by design

WAV stores raw PCM samples, so joining WAVs is just placing one list of samples after another. AudioKit writes the result straight from the joined samples without passing through a lossy encoder.

Files recorded at different sample rates (say 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz) are resampled to the highest rate so they play at the right pitch. The output is 16-bit; if your sources are 24-bit and you need to keep that depth, export FLAC, which is also lossless and about half the size.

Watch the size

CD-quality WAV is about 10 MB per minute. Joining an hour of WAVs gives a file of roughly 600 MB. If it only needs to be listened to, the WAV compressor can turn it into a much smaller MP3 or FLAC afterwards.

Questions people ask

Does merging WAV files reduce quality?

No. With WAV output nothing is re-compressed. Only a crossfade, if you choose one, changes the samples at the joins.

Can I combine WAV files with different sample rates?

Yes. They are resampled to the highest sample rate among them, so every part plays at the correct speed and pitch.

Is there a size limit?

No limit is set by us. Your browser needs enough memory for the decoded audio, about 10 MB per stereo minute.

Can I merge WAVs into an MP3?

Yes. Switch the output format to MP3 before exporting. That makes the file about a seventh of the WAV size at 192 kbps.
