MP3 cutter

Cut a song, voice note or podcast MP3 down to the part you want, right on the waveform.

  • Runs on your device
  • No upload
  • No sign-up
  • Free

Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A or a video. It opens on this device.

Stays on this device: nothing is uploaded. You can also drag a file here or paste it.

To cut an MP3: open it below, drag the two yellow marks around the part you want, press Preview, then Export MP3. Switch to “Cut selection out” to remove a middle section instead.

Step by step

  1. Choose the MP3, or tap Try a sample to see how it works.
  2. Drag the yellow splice marks, or type exact start and end times.
  3. Press Preview (or the space bar) to hear the cut.
  4. Add a short fade in and out so it doesn’t start or stop abruptly.
  5. Export MP3 and Download, or Share on a phone.

Exact cuts

Times can be typed to a hundredth of a second, and each mark moves in 0.1-second steps with the arrow keys (1 second with Shift). The cut is sample-accurate: it lands on the exact sample, not on the nearest MP3 frame.

Because the cut MP3 is re-encoded, keep the bitrate at or above the source’s (shown when the file loads). 192 kbps is the default.

Questions people ask

How do I cut part of an MP3 song?

Open the MP3 above, drag the marks around the part you want to keep, press Preview to check, then Export MP3.

Can I remove a section from the middle of an MP3?

Yes. Select the part to remove and switch to “Cut selection out”. The two sides are joined with a 10 ms crossfade so there is no click.

Does this MP3 cutter work on a phone?

Yes. The marks are large enough to drag with a thumb, and on phones that support it the Share button sends the result straight to another app.

Is it really free?

Yes, with no watermark, sign-up or length limit. The cutting happens on your device, so there is no server cost to recover.

Can I make a ringtone from the cut?

Use the ringtone maker. It limits the clip to 40 seconds for iPhone and exports M4R or MP3.
